About Us
The AVM Charitable Foundation is primarily dedicated to animal welfare but does from time to time make grants to other worthy causes.
Founded in March 2001, it is entirely funded by the person after whom it is named and does not seek other donations.
The Foundation seeks to improve the lives of animals in many ways and without restriction as to geography. The Trustees are more sympathetic to individual projects rather than just supporting ongoing costs, as this ensures that any grant funding has deliverable outcomes for the animals it is allocated to support.
Standing up for animals for 20 years and counting…
Behind the foundation…
Anthony Martin
Anthony Martin, a passionate advocate for animal welfare, established the Anthony V Martin Charitable Foundation in March 2001. His deep love and respect for animals inspired him to create an organization dedicated to enhancing their lives through kindness, compassion, and care. Anthony, who recently retired from an illustrious career in the recruitment industry, has been recognised for his outstanding contributions in this field, earning him a place in both the Recruitment International Hall of Fame and the Staffing Analysts Hall of Fame.
In 2022, Anthony's relentless dedication to animal welfare was honoured at a national level when he was made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for his charitable services, as noted in the Queen’s final Honours List. The CBE, standing for Commander of the Order of the British Empire, is one of the highest-ranking awards and is bestowed upon individuals for distinguished and innovative contributions in their respective fields.
Now, with his professional achievements and his CBE accolade, Anthony is more committed than ever to leveraging his expertise in recruitment and leadership to build a global network of animal lovers. His goal is not only to celebrate his past successes but to use them as a foundation for fostering a better world for animals everywhere.
Winston
Winston is our beautiful rescued black Spaniel. He was being used as a stud dog on a puppy farm. He was kept in a cage for three years before he was rescued along with his wife, who was a year and a half and on her second litter of puppies. All of the puppies have been re-homed to loving environments around the UK.
Peter Egan
Peter Egan is a trustee for the AVM Foundation. Peter’s day job is to entertain the nation on our television screens - and he does just that. In his spare time however, Peter is a staunch animal rights advocate and dedicates an awful lot to support the work of animal charities and initiatives. Peter is the UK Ambassador for Animals Asia and a Patron of All Dogs Matter.
Jenny Impey
With roots in Buckinghamshire, Jenny has carved an impressive legacy in philanthropy, governance, and finance, embodying our values of transparency, social impact, and stakeholder collaboration.
Jenny's most notable role was as the Trust Director for the John Laing Charitable Trust from 2013 to 2021. Here, she brilliantly managed assets amounting to £69m, successfully distributing up to £2.8m in grants worldwide. This position witnessed her spearheading essential philanthropy-giving projects, optimising sustainability strategies for partner organisations, and ensuring the welfare of countless communities globally.
Passionately dedicated to creating a meaningful difference, Jenny has built cultures that prioritise result-driven performance, quality improvement, and operational excellence and we are lucky to have her with us as a trustee at the Anthony V Martin Charitable Foundation.
Carolyn Trevivian
Carolyn has been involved with the third sector for over twenty years working as a fundraiser for various charities. She lives in Cornwall and was a member of the founding teams of Tate St Ives and the Eden Project. Carolyn is currently employed by two charities working with youth homelessness and people suffering from addiction. In her spare time, she raises funds for a local animal shelter and promotes education on animal welfare whenever she can. We are pleased to welcome her as a Trustee of the AVM Foundation and look forward to the experience and knowledge she will bring to our future work.
