Supporting Ukraine: Helping a Nation, One Animal at a Time

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has caused unimaginable hardship for countless people and animals. Since the war began in 2022, determining where and how to direct aid most effectively has been a challenge. However, with the support of the Anthony V Martin Foundation, Nowzad has been able to make a significant difference in the lives of both animals and people affected by the conflict.

Thanks to our Foundation’s grant, Nowzad has successfully sterilised, vaccinated, and microchipped over 400 animals in three frontline areas of Ukraine. This effort has had a profound impact on the health and stability of animal populations in these regions.

A central component of Nowzad's work has been their Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release (TNVR) program, an essential tool in managing street populations of dogs and cats. This program not only helps control the number of stray animals but also plays a crucial role in preventing the spread of rabies, a life-threatening disease that affects both animals and humans.

In addition to TNVR, Nowzad continues to provide substantial amounts of food, shelter, and medical care each month to animals across Ukraine, thanks to their dedicated network of animal shelters and courageous volunteers working tirelessly on the ground.

Nowzad's microchipping initiative, supported by our grant, is also making a significant impact by facilitating animal adoptions within Ukraine and helping to reunite pets with their owners who were forced to flee due to the fighting.

Through these vital programs, the Anthony V Martin Foundation’s grant is helping Nowzad rebuild lives in Ukraine—both human and animal. We are proud to support Nowzad in their incredible work and remain committed to helping those in need during these challenging times.
