The AVM Round Up 📣

Six new charities funded, two major international programmes supported, and lots of dog walks.

Join us as we take time to pause and review the first quarter of the year at The Anthony V Martin Charitable Foundation.

After celebrating our 20th Anniversary last year (which you can read all about here), we have shown no signs of slowing down on our mission to support charities working with endangered animals all over the world.

If you didn’t already know; The Anthony V Martin Charitable Foundation was set up by Anthony Martin in 2001 -and seeks to improve the lives of animals in many ways and without restriction to geography.

To date, we have funded over 30+ charities and organisations directly, and have helped the lives of countless innocent animals.

So, what have we been up to?

Well, it’s probably best to hear directly from Tony, our founder - who, along with the committee, has been working hard on two very important projects behind the scenes.

“Due to International Government sensitivities and security concerns, we are unable to publicise two major programmes that the Foundation is funding.

However in one case over 850,000 dogs have been saved from slaughter, in a short period of time, and this will grow into millions as the programme continues.

In the other case, we are assisting in the passing of Legislation, to protect animals being killed for human pleasure. Nothing can justify this activity.”

We hope that in time we will be able to share more about these projects, however, we do have some news that we can speak more freely about...

Funding News

The Foundation has committed funding to six new charities, four of which we can share with you.

From saving baby birds to looking after hedgehogs, Shropshire to Morocco - this extra funding will ensure that the superstars running these charities will be able to continue the amazing work that they are already doing.

Cuan Wildlife Centre

Cuan Wildlife Rescue is a registered charity dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned wild animals and birds. The charity which admits over 6,000 animals each year needs to raise £356,000 each year to cover its running costs and the Foundation is delighted to help support their work.

Prickles Hedgehog Rescue

Prickles is a charity which cares for poorly, injured or orphaned hedgehogs. To date, they have released over 4,000 back to the wild. The Foundation has made a donation to support the continuation of its vital service.

SFT Animal Sanctuary Tangier

SFT in Morocco is run by a small but dedicated team and is currently home to over 500 animals including over 400 dogs, 120 cats, 30 donkeys and many more. The Foundation has a long-standing relationship with SFT and our founder Tony has paid a visit to the sanctuary to witness the wonderful work that they are doing first-hand.

Animal SOS Sri Lanka

The foundation also granted follow-on funding to Animal SOS Sri Lanka, who if it weren't for their vital rescue service Sri Lanka’s street animals would have little to no hope of veterinary care when they become ill or injured on the roads.

Feature: Nowzad’s Work In Ukraine

You might not believe it - but the war in Ukraine has been ongoing for 72 days. As the fight rages on, you’ll be pleased to hear that there are brave volunteers at the centre of the conflict fighting for our animal counterparts.

Nowzad is an amazing charity that works in war-torn countries to help protect innocent animals affected by conflict. It has historically focused its efforts in Afghanistan, however, they now have ‘boots on the ground' in Ukraine and are working tirelessly to look after the animals that have been left behind as Ukrainians fled their homeland.

The team recently shared an update on Instagram:

“With the away team already in #Ukraine the #nowzad supply chain is moving.. sadly the desperation in Ukraine is beyond anything we expected. Keep those monetary donations coming please (easier to buy in EU than transport from here) #nowzadukraine.”

If you would like to support the war effort and protect the most vulnerable victims of any war - the animals - then you can donate to Nowzad here.

The Foundation have been long standing supporters of Nowzad, and are wishing them all the best of luck in Ukraine.
